Due to copyright laws we can not draw, make a replica, or slight resemblance of licensed products.  What are licensed products?  They are College teams or logos, movie, tv or cartoon characters, tractors, guns, and professional sports.

There are many more licensed items, too many to mention here.  If it is sold, most likely it is licensed.  Fines for copyright violations can be $50,000!  I love my shop and will not risk losing it over a cake.  It's a very irritating law, but it is the law.

Here is a legal way for you to have your special cake.  A cake can be made and decorated and then you take the cake and add your favorite character/team figure, etc to it.  That is not a violation.  The following are examples of a cake that the customer added their figure to the top:

Here is are some sports cakes and cupcakes that the customer added their team:

I'm often asked: "Why can't you make a character shaped cake, the pan is sold at my favorite craft store?"   The pans at the craft store are sold "for home use only".  It is ok for you to purchase the pan and make the cake.  If I purchase the pan, make a cake and sell it, it becomes a copyright violation.

Another question asked is "The Bakery or Ms Bakerlady draws anything on a cake, why can't you?"  Again, what they do is their business.  I've worked 17 years to build my business and I will not lose it over a cake.
